Six Word Memoirs

March 31st, 2009

little-writerNot Quite What I Was Planning: Six Word Memoirs By Writers Famous and Obscure was a book edited by Ferschleiser and Smith set me to put a pen to paper and try to come up with something that captured my life in just six words.  Ironically I came up with many of them which sort-of begs the question “Can I do it in just six words?”  I’m guessing not.

There are some people who are very consistent all their lives and never deviate, struggle or make drastic changes that affect their location, status, social circle and financial condition.  They just always seem to be upwardly mobile and perhaps they could come up with one six-worder that would do it for them.  Apparently that won’t fit for me.  How about for you?  Can you do it?  Come on! Try it.  Send me your six word Memoir.  Tell me the story of your life in six words.  To get you thinking, here are a few of mine.

1)  Duty, Honor, Country.  Now Gimme Mine.

2)  Only One Problem In Life: Me.

3)  I Came, I Saw, I Failed.

4)  I Failed.  Love Lifted Me Up.

5)  Wreckage Willingly Woven With Wonderful Warmth.

6)  Help Wanted.  Apply Within.  Door Locked.

7)  Great House.  Stone Walls.  No Doors.

8)  I Was Given A Second Chance.

9)  I Drank. I Caroused.  I Dumb.

10)  Philanthropist. Philanderer. Phool.  My Success Story.

11)  Solid Rock.  Broken Stone.  A Master Piece.

Tell me yours.  Then if you want, tell me what you want it to be.  Here’s what I would want mine to be:  Perfect Life. Helped Many. Gave All.

I guess I can always dream.  (Hey!  Thats six too!)
